Construction of a storage hall. How the implementation of the project is going on.

The ability to use a warehouse is essential for the operation of companies in various sectors. Depending on the company’s expectations, the required size of the hall, or the type of ground on the site, it makes sense to choose the right type of warehouse hall. There are several types of warehouse halls, three of which are the most popular. Masonry halls are the most expensive and require quite a long construction period. Tent halls, on the other hand, are often a temporary solution, and their lightweight construction reduces the cost and time of warehouse construction. A solution that combines the advantages of the two previously mentioned is the construction of a steel hall.
Tent storage halls – are they a good alternative to steel and masonry halls?
In some situations, tent halls are an interesting alternative to typical warehouse halls. The construction of a storage hall in the form of a large tent allows you to reduce costs, and on top of that such a hall is dismantlable. This is a good solution if the need arises to erect a hall for a few months, for example. Steel halls are, of course, much more durable. In some applications, such as storing hay or other products of the agricultural industry, a tent hall can be a nice choice. A common use of a tent hall is as a roof for construction machinery or an entire area where construction work is being carried out.
However, it is worth remembering that when you decide to install a storage hall in the form of a tent, you still need to try to get a building permit and prepare the ground.
The main advantage of tent halls remains their price. They are lightweight structures, sometimes used as temporary storage halls. Where it would be uneconomical to build a storage hall, it is sometimes worth considering installing a tent hall.
How to prepare the ground for the construction of a tent storage hall?
The structure of the tent hall is based on lightweight aluminum profiles. It is on them that the outer shell of the tent hall is put on. Such a storage hall requires a much lower bearing capacity of the substrate than production halls or steel storage halls. In this case, however, there is no avoiding the proper preparation of the substrate, according to the design requirements. During the design of the warehouse, of course, all building regulations and applicable standards must also be met.
The first action is always a geological analysis of the ground and a site visit. Then, as in the case of the construction of a warehouse, the ground is leveled. Some soils require additional dewatering, if the groundwater level does not provide adequate bearing capacity for the ground. Next, foundations are poured from concrete – they will be the basis for the installation of the poles that make up the structure of the tent hall.
When is it a good idea to build steel storage halls?
Without a doubt, a tent hall is a very good temporary solution. However, if the facility is to serve for many years, building a steel warehouse hall is the best choice. Steel halls serve successfully as storage halls, production halls or industrial halls. They are characterized by high durability and resistance to external factors and weather conditions. A big advantage of steel halls is the ability to quickly erect the building. For an average warehouse with a storage area of about a thousand square meters, the construction time is only a dozen days.
Why does it take so little time to build a steel warehouse facility? Steel halls are erected from prefabricated components. The finished elements are assembled on site. Such a hall can be built by a team of just a few people with the right equipment. This also translates into a reduction in the cost of building a steel warehouse hall. In addition, this type of warehouse hall can be erected at any time of the year – outdoor conditions do not hinder the construction of a steel warehouse hall.
The construction of a warehouse hall from steel is often the most favorable solution in terms of the ratio of cost to durability. A steel hall can successfully serve for several decades, and its cost is much lower than that of a masonry hall. So when is it worth choosing to build a masonry warehouse hall? About it in the next part of the entry.
Construction of a steel hall – what are the disadvantages of this solution?
Each type of warehouse hall has a whole range of advantages, but also some disadvantages. What are the disadvantages of building a steel-framed warehouse hall? The operation of a steel hall usually involves servicing and maintenance of the hall. This is because the metal structure can be susceptible to corrosion. However, modern paints and varnishes make it possible to significantly reduce this problem. Steel is also not a material that is particularly resistant to temperature fluctuations. Fortunately, reputable companies that build steel halls take this into account.
In some situations, poor sound insulation in steel halls can be a problem. If such a hall is used as an industrial hall, where noisy machinery is in operation, it is therefore worthwhile to provide additional acoustic protection. Steel hall walls also do not insulate from the heat outside, especially during the summer.
Application of steel storage halls.
Construction of a steel warehouse is a good idea in many industries. We most often encounter this solution in industry (industrial halls), agriculture, or in the logistics and warehousing industry (logistics warehouses). Steel halls can also successfully serve as sports and recreational facilities.
Steel halls can reach the largest volume. So they are great for a very large warehouse hall. Even after the steel warehouse hall has already been completed, its dimensions can be increased. This is made possible by the modular construction of steel halls.
When is it a good idea to build a masonry warehouse?
A masonry warehouse hall is the most solid structure. This type of hall can be built even on difficult ground with reduced load-bearing capacity. The cost of maintaining and conserving a masonry warehouse hall is low, and sometimes such maintenance is not necessary at all. Compared to tent and steel halls, a masonry hall is the most resistant to weather conditions, extreme temperatures, strong winds, and heavy rain. The construction of a masonry warehouse hall also provides the best thermal insulation – the brick layer protects much better against extreme temperatures than steel walls or the covering of a tent hall.
Unfortunately, masonry halls also have some disadvantages. Their construction is the most expensive and takes the longest. It’s also hard to imagine building a brick warehouse hall in bad conditions, such as during winter or heavy rain (in the case of steel halls, these problems do not exist). Masonry halls are also the heaviest, which should be taken into account when evaluating the load-bearing capacity of the ground.
When is it worth considering the construction of a masonry hall? It is a good alternative to the most commonly used steel halls when the investor has high expectations for the hall. Such a hall is the most durable, and its construction will probably pay off only after many years of use.
Warehouse Hall Construction – Which Material to Choose?
The decision to build a specific type of warehouse hall is quite important and should be carefully considered. However, by knowing the advantages and disadvantages of each solution, it is quite easy to decide whether to build a steel, masonry, or tent hall. Masonry halls are the most durable but the most expensive to build. In the past, investors often chose this type of hall because of its solid construction. However, with the development of steel hall construction technology, they have become an increasingly popular option. They combine the advantages of a masonry hall with the lightness of a tent hall. A big plus is also the modular construction of steel halls – it allows for configuring the size of the hall based on the specific needs of a company – even after the hall is already built.
Building a warehouse hall in the form of a tent hall is a very good choice for temporary halls. They can serve as roofing during construction work or in the agricultural harvesting season. All of the mentioned types are available as both halls for sale and halls for rent. Halls for rent are now an attractive option for spreading the cost of building a hall over time.
